How to reset for 2022

How to reset for 2022

What’s behind the second door?

I started my alternative advent calendar here this week, as some of you may have read. Twelve tips before Christmas to support your journey towards a greater focus on your wellbeing and we know that there is a proven link between this and your performance.

So, here’s what’s behind door two. It’s a concept first amplified by BJ Fogg, the founder of the Behaviour Design Lab at Stanford University. He’s one of the world’s foremost experts on the science and psychology of behaviour change. Why is this so important to wellbeing? Well, to improve our wellbeing, most of us need to make some changes to our lives. And in his book, Tiny Habits, BJ Fogg shares his research-backed insights on habit change and why it doesn’t have to be as hard as you think. He also shares the key to creating habits that stick and how to use the Fogg Behaviour Model as a framework for making the changes you want to see in your life. It might involve sleep or your diet or taking up a new hobby. Whatever it is, you’ll succeed most with tiny, regular increments and the best way to start making significant changes is by taking minor actions. And most importantly, as BJ Fogg says himself, ‘If there’s one concept from my book that I hope you embrace, it’s this: People change best by feeling good, not by feeling bad.’

So, there you have it. Door Two has given you the key to how you might be able to stick to those New Year wellbeing resolutions after all.
